I was born and raised in Miami, Florida and first completed my Bachelor of Arts in Tampa, Florida at the University of South Florida majoring in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences, with a concentration in Psychology and Sociology. Then I obtained a dual Master of Arts in Psychology with an emphasis in Counseling Psychology from Webster Vienna Private University in Vienna, Austria, and Webster University in Missouri. My training abroad allowed me to practice holistic counseling in diverse settings such as international social hubs, LGBTQIA+ cultural centers, and a university counseling center. I worked with clientele from different cultural backgrounds and age groups, where I utilized a variety of therapeutic approaches including individual counseling, group counseling, expressive arts interventions (music, art, dance, poetry), and guided meditations.

My therapeutic approach focuses on client-centered, humanistic philosophies that aim to explore and treat the individual as a whole: mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual. My approach is grounded in a stance of empathy, acceptance, and respect for self-discovery and self-determination for all clients. Through techniques taken from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt therapy, I help clients become aware of and identify feelings, emotions, conflicts, and behaviors of the here-and-now.

Through open and honest communication, my goal is to create a therapeutic space that is both a collaboration and a healing mechanism for clients who may be experiencing: depression, anxiety, relationship stress, substance abuse, or existential issues. Overall, I believe the therapeutic relationship is the most valuable part in the process of therapy.  In therapy with me, both client and therapist have the potential to transform the space into their own unique canvas.

Any and all are welcome including an ally or allies

I was born and raised in Indiana and completed my undergraduate degree at Ball State University. I then moved to South Florida to earn my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at NOVA Southeastern University. Throughout my graduate career, I developed a passion for treating clients with medical issues, substance use disorders, and the complications associated with these challenges. To enhance my ability to assist such clients, I refined my clinical skills to include psychological and neuropsychological testing and brief psychological interventions. My treatment approach has focused on helping individuals identify accurate diagnoses through psychological testing and addressing these issues directly using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

During my training, I was fortunate to work in various settings, including outpatient clinics, Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals, and inpatient facilities such as Jackson Memorial Hospital. These experiences allowed me to broaden my therapeutic focus and assist individuals with a wide range of mental health difficulties, including chronic insomnia, pain management, and issues specific to the veteran population. My training provided me with a deep understanding of how medical issues can trigger or complicate mental health challenges. I have developed a profound empathy and a strong desire to help those facing these issues.

In therapy, my personal values and personality are clearly reflected. I hold my relationships with friends and family close to my heart and prioritize expanding my knowledge of different cultures through travel and continuous learning. I believe that the relationship between a client and their clinician is one of the most important aspects of effective therapy. My goal is to create a supportive environment where clients feel safe to identify and address their unique challenges.

ESA Letter Miami Florida
